GREEN BUILDING
In 1993 the United States Green Building Council developed a system designed to define and measure the sustainability of a building. This system is LEED, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. LEED established a rating system under which a building could measure its sustainability through the following five categories: Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation and Design Process. The LEED system allows developers, designers, architects, engineers, and product manufacturers to earn points under each of the five categories and earn different levels of green building certification.
Dorn Platz believes in enhancing the environment while developing new buildings. Dorn Platz is an active participant in the LEED movement toward environmental sustainability. With two LEED Accredited Professionals in the office, Dorn Platz has set a goal in achieving LEED Certification in all of its future buildings. Currently, Dorn Platz has four LEED registered projects which are being developed.
